TORREYS NEVER STOP GROWING

January 5, 2026, is a special day–we return to campus to begin celebrating our 100th year.

To mark the moment, our students gathered on the varsity field wearing their new centennial shirts to form a “100.” We captured it from above and paired it with a short video that reflects who we are as a community: rooted in history and always growing forward.

Students began the day with a lesson on topographic maps and Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve, the inspiration for the centennial t-shirt design.

WHAT’S SPECIAL ABOUT A TORREY PINE?

In nature, it’s not the rarest tree.
It’s not the widest. It’s not the tallest.
Its soil is dry and the sun is hot.
The wind can be relentless.

So, what’s special about a Torrey pine?

It grows anyway.
It grows where others won’t.
It grows something called character.
For 100 years, so have we.

Torreys never stop growing.
Never stop learning.
Never stop dancing.
Never stop playing.
Never stop wondering.
Never stop making an impact.

We are unfinished.
A Torrey is always enough,
and can always become more.

A century behind us,
a limitless future ahead–
because when growing never ends,
neither does possibility.
