The Third Teacher
The Hub environment squarely positions our students as the next generation to challenge, improve and innovate upon the traditions of society.

Take a moment to think about an environment or space that inspires you.
A place, whether physical in form or from memory, where you felt that you could thrive as a learner and all your untapped potential would present itself in minutes.
Go on. Think. What about this environment makes you feel so alive and curious and ready and empowered to learn? Does it give you the feeling that you could conquer all that stands in your way and make a beautiful, lasting and positive impact on the world?
Think.
In May 2025, LJCDS will break ground on The Hub for Human Impact—an environment centrally located on campus serving all students from age 3 through Grade 12.
Our students possess extraordinary learning potential. Cultural, social and environmental contexts either attend to or dampen this potential.
Every child and every adult at LJCDS is a constructor of experiences that provide an opportunity to make sense of the world around them and, most importantly, position themselves as agents, creators, challengers and disruptors of knowledge.
The Hub environment squarely positions our students as the next generation, much like how each of you carried on the fruits of your respective generation, to bring forward the knowledge gained in this space and to challenge, improve and innovate upon the traditions of society.
Our students are artists, innovators, humanitarians and change agents, and LJCDS is the hub for the future.
We are the catalyst. We are not merely constructing a building but designing an environment where all students and adults can thrive. We are positioning our students to drive technological advancements, scientific discoveries, and interdisciplinary and societal progress. We are ensuring that they will continue to learn how to effectively write, communicate and translate ideas and solutions to improve their lives and others.
The Hub will challenge students to solve long standing societal problems and empower them to be informed, engaged citizens. The intersectionality between design, the arts and sciences, and the humanities will attend to each student’s sense of self, wellness and belonging. The labs, performance, study and belonging spaces will position students to thrive. Each student can not only learn or master critical areas of content but can also be a decision-maker and creator for the betterment of society in this environment.
Every day, children come to campus and engage with three teachers: teacher to student, student to student, and perhaps most importantly, the environment to student.
We are not building a building. The Hub is the third teacher.
